Missing U-boat

U-boat is the anglicized version of the German word U-Boot, a shortening of Unterseeboot, which means “undersea boat”. While the German term refers to any submarine, the English one refers specifically to military submarines operated by Germany, particularly in World War I and World War II.

In 2007 a Type VII U-boat appeared one morning at a picnic area located next to Alberta highway 770.
Research has shown that the sub was active during World War 2, but disappeared just months before the war ended.

It hadn’t been seen since April 1945.

There are no clues as to where the submarine had been for nearly 62 years.

No one has claimed the U-boat. The German government claims it is not their boat and that it must be a fake.

It sits there fenced off today.

There was no ammunition or power system on board the sub, they appear to have been removed at some point in it’s time away, along with any personal affects of the crew.
